The origins of Les Médiévales

In the Year of Our Lord 1995, a team of volunteers decided to take over the torch from the society named 'Henri 1er Beaclerc', which had been created for the 800th anniversary of the death of Henri 1er Beauclerc (King Henry 1st of England, Duke of Normandy).

The society 'Les Médiévales de Domfront' was created on 25 February 1995 and organised its first medieval market that same year. The objective of the society was to revive the historic past of Domfront for a weekend in the summer. Until 2001 the medieval fête was held every year. Since then the volunteers who lead the society have decided to change the frequency to once every two years.
